Section 1: Crystallisation technologies, chaired by Anastassis Perrakis, NKI

Section 1 focuses on the coordination of synchrotrons with the aim to make them amenable to high-throughput at a lower cost level by setting up automatically completed crystallisation experiments and minimising protein consumption. Another objective is to closely link high-throughput crystallisation facilities to the diffraction experiment.

Therefore, the efforts will apply to a) automating tasks required for high-throughput protein crystallisation, b) reducing the amount of protein necessary for crystallisation, c) providing a common development framework for hardware, software and data formatting/ handling between synchrotron sites and d) providing training and circulation of knowledge between synchrotrons.
